Have you ever seen night going? Very few people have become aware of things which are happening everyday. Have you ever seen the evening coming? The midnight and its song? The sunrise and its beauty? We are behaving almost like blind people. In such a beautiful world we are living in small ponds of our own misery. We have forgotten how to love and do good and kind deeds for others. Have you ever recollected your deeds of a day at night when you sleep? Think of how many good deeds you have done, think of how many people you have helped, think of good things you have talked about others. Life is beautiful and we can make it more beautiful by our actions. That is why they say, “I shall pass through this world but once, if therefore there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do, let me know for I shall not pass this way again.”

MUSINGS ON MUSIC

Music is the most sublime of all creations .The most incredible entity surpassing all borders of humanity. From the wind in the trees and the chirping of the birds to the ravaged serrated sounds of heavy metal, music is something that stirs the soul, moves the body and touches the mind.
My idea of music is the ultimate high. Something that makes me feel I can do anything I want, anywhere I want.
Even sounds of nature –trees, birds and animals tear us away from the pain of normal life and bring us back to our own primitive, natural side. The beautiful sounds of nature tell us that there’s more to life than sitting at a desk in front of a pile of files.
Opera and Orchestral music move people to tear with the sheer power, emotion and brilliance of the most pure form of music in existence.
Ghazals and Indian classical music and operas, though totally different in sound and content and totally original in their own way people in much the same way.
Then we have Rock ’n’ Roll and Jazz. With its living sounds nad terrific beats, it took over the world from the forties to the seventies. Rock ’n’ Roll went through its bad patches. At a point of time it was called the Devil’s Music.
In the seventies, Rock put on a new dimension. With the start of the Vietnam War, singers like Bob Dylan and John Lennon started putting a more meaningful message into their music. Bands like Led Zeppelin and Doors spread the spiritual message of music.
In the eighties, music became more rigid as new form of dance music developed, but it moved people no less. Some of it still does. It also showed the beginning of punk rods bands like green day carry on the tradition.
In the nineties, Techno and a new breed of dance music have had come in. Since it is easy to produce, a whole host of new bands have come into the music scene.
This new music has a completely rigid and sometimes hypnotic rhythm. Its monotony is its greatest virtue. It makes it easy to merge with almost any other song. There has also been a rise in remixes, i.e. old songs with new rhythms. This has taken over the world like a firestorm. It has diversified into Trance Aid, Space Techno, Punk Techno, and Psychedelics Rave etc. The list goes on.
On the other hand, the nineties have also brought along a new type of music called Alternative ground on which they all stand. In some way or another, they’re all unorthodox, never sounding exactly as they are expected to.
All in all, music, in some version or another, is something we have common. We all feel the same when we listen to music- wonderful. We all sway to the sound of music, perceptibly or imperceptibly.
